I know literally nobody who follows me except my boyfriend will care about my Linuxposting but I recently switched to using Sway and I feel at home on a workflow in a way that I haven't felt in a long time
I wouldn't say it's better/worse than the GNOME workflow I unrepentently shill for, but it saves me battery life which is useful when you're a uni student with a light laptop
I may return to GNOME sometime in the future, especially for a desktop system, but this is nice lol

Have you seen the new package? It's on synaptic. It's literally on flatpack. It's on pacman with extra. It's on AUR. You can watch it on AUR. You can go to AUR and watch it. Log onto AUR right now. Go to AUR. Dive into AUR. You can AUR it. It's on AUR. AUR has it for you. AUR has it for you.

ever notice how the people who will be like "eww linux haha" are just bullying a group of mostly autistic people
but it's okay because they're stereotypically men and disabled men get no rights i guess
like yes cis male linux-fans can be annoying (often in an autism way btw) but as someone who has spent years among them they are on average less sexist than your average man. also a lot of us linux users are genderqueer poople. the trans women in STEM you've heard about? most of them are linux users as well, if they don't use unix or more obscure systems.
the techbros you hate? they don't use linux, they use windows and mac. linux is overwhelmingly non-commercial, and techbros are hyper-neoliberal. most of linux is FOSS (free & open source software)
linux comes from the same ideological corner as firefox. if you think firefox is great but think linux is nothing more than a funny joke you need to look in the fucking mirror. and at your own computer because if you use windows you'll have a lot of anti-features that you take for granted. if you made the switch to linux it would be like exhaling the breath you didn't know you were holding for years. not saying that you have to, just, most people don't even consider making their own lives easier. you know?

scratching my head about browser battery life on linux
why is firefox so good for my laptop battery life?
i was using a chromium based browser at uni today and it was eating up my battery like 3x as fast as normal.
decided to switch to firefox and all of a sudden my battery drain chilled the fuck out. no clue what happened.
im on wayland and all that, but i had both browsers running on it so there was no random xwayland session open. the only differences as far as i know was the resource usage (firefox uses substantially less memory and slightly less cpu usage). it was mostly the memory that was different. i wonder if memory just takes that much more to power or if there was something wrong. the very same browser was actually giving me equivalent or better battery life just last week, too.
weird.

really my favorite thing about using Linux is that compared to like, Windows or MacOS, I just enjoy my time on the computer more with Linux. There's a lot of dumb bullshit I don't have to worry about, everything runs faster, I can make my interface look like it crawled out of 1997, and I don't have to turn the thing off to update it. It feels a bit cheesy to say that but using Windows just feels adversarial (which was the case even before I swapped to exclusively using Linux) and that's a sentiment I see from tons of people who exclusively run it.
